Happy New Year! I'm only 11 days late! Or am I? Sometimes life gets in the way of your plans and we just have to learn to adjust and reroute the course. With that in mind I'd like to share with you all the reflections/ritual I did to kick off this New Year.
Whether it be learning to play basketball or learning to code, everyone starts off as a novice. Yes, some people display an inherent ability and pick up certain skills quicker than others but that doesn’t mean just because you aren’t “naturally” good at something you should just give up.
If you're athlete, a physically active person, and/or a type A personality, it can be difficult to admit you need a break. It took me literally getting beat up in a cage to finally get the message my body was trying to send me: it was tired and needed a break.
Another year, another birthday, another 12 months of gaining just a little more wisdom. My birthday was last month and I spent most of it in bed thanks to a particularly terrible case of sinusitis. There was a lot more reflecting then partying this birthday which is totally cool because reflection is way more aligned with my personality. And that’s really what I feel this past year has been about for me: learning to unconditionally accept and love who I am.
